TEAM BUILDING
In the world of work, the last fifteen to twenty years has seen a huge
shift to the importance of working in teams.

With this advent of the necessity to work through teams, tools and
strategies to facilitate consensus and to work through conflict are
called for as never before. There are no easy, clear-cut models to
making teamwork easy. Each team has to figure which of the many
team tools will work for them. Consensus tools are called for so that
each team can move ahead into this uncharted future to discern and
create what an effective team means for them.

When tools and strategies are utilized to create a purposeful
VISION, to encourage a participative PROCESS, to enhance
individual COMMITMENT, and to build a collaborative TEAM,
then team empowerment begins to grow. Short change any one of
these and the team is lop-sided or incomplete. Without a VISION,
there is no focus on what needs to happen, no reason for one.
Without a participative PROCESS, there is no group road map to
work through the intricacies of team decision-making meeting after
meeting. Without individual COMMITMENT, there is no drive or
energy to carry team plans through to completion. Finally, without a
collaborative TEAM, the task of concerted action becomes
overwhelming and burdensome. People burn out before anything has
been accomplished.

Team building is not an overnight task. It is a process which takes
years and can be refined year after year. Nevertheless, you can
begin today with your team to set the stage for team empowerment
to grow, to establish the environment that fosters a powerful
noteworthy team.
